Safety comes first – reliable solutions to control the hold-open function on fire proof doors
GEZE Hold-open devices and mechanisms
Fires develop quickly and frequently unnoticed. This means that doors need to be closed securely between the fire lobbies, in order to prevent the dispersion of deadly smoke gases.
The use of buildings partly requires that doors are left open for a short period of time (e.g. for the transportation of goods). A hold-open device is required in order to keep the door open.
GEZE has a complete range of hold-open devices specially designed for the use in preventative fire protection.
Additionally we have a multitude of hold-open mechanisms for both overhead and integrated door closers, as well as for automatic swing door drives. These can be integrated individually and according to your requirements in the building concept and create a hold-open device when used together with a smoke switch control unit (RSZ 6).
A hold-open system is a mechanism by which fire doors are held open electronically. Door leaves can thus be held in the open position until they are released, either manually or in the event of fire via the smoke detectors, and the door closes. A hold-open system is made up of - A trigger mechanism (processes the signals issued by the fire alarm system)
- Fire alarm
- Hold-open mechanism (door closer with electrical hold-open or holding magnet)
- Power supply
In the event of a fire, fire and smoke doors that are being held open are closed automatically. | |

A hold-open mechanism is part of a hold-open system. The interplay of a trigger mechanism, a fire alarm system and a power supply makes the hold-open system. In the event of a fire, fire and smoke doors that are being held open are closed automatically.
